Hands-on, experiential lessons are essential to student engagement. Tying lessons together across content areas (math, science, reading and social studies) mimics the interplay of knowledge in real-life. An experience-based, interdisciplinary focus helps students make stronger connections among concepts and builds deeper understanding of learning material.
Knowledge is co-constructed, meaning children learn when they interact with other children. Time in the classroom allows each child to expand on what they are learning at home through play, interaction and conversation with other learners.
We engage students’ interests through projects and activities and tailor learning to what they are responding to in class. When we notice a particular subject captures their imagination, we lean into it.
Instead of expecting each child to progress at the same speed, we allow students to master each skill before moving on to the next.
